Emon Enterprise – PET Bottle Flakes and PET Straps

Emon Enterprise, based in Chattogram, is one of the largest manufacturers of PET Bottle Flakes and PET Straps in Bangladesh. The company has contributed significantly to the development of the packaging industry by supplying high-quality PET straps. PET strapping is widely used as an alternative packaging material to traditional steel straps and PP packing belts.

As a member of the Association, Emon Enterprise is a 100% export-oriented business in PET Bottle Flakes. Discarded PET bottles generally have little or no commercial value and are often disposed of at municipal dumping sites. Without proper collection and recycling, such waste can create serious environmental problems.

Emon Enterprise has been exporting PET Bottle Flakes since 2011, initially mainly to the People's Republic of China (PRC). China was among the first countries to extensively use PET waste as a raw material for producing Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF). PSF is subsequently used to produce Polyester Spun Yarn (PSY), which is further processed into polyester fabrics.

At the end of 2017, the PRC banned the import of four categories of waste materials—waste plastics, waste iron, waste clothing and waste paper—from around the world. In response, Emon Enterprise developed alternative markets and began exporting to India in late 2017, gradually overcoming the impact of the Chinese import ban. However, the Indian government imposed a similar restriction on the import of waste and recycled plastics from late 2019.

The company subsequently developed new export destinations in the European Union, the USA, Russia and Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam, Korea, Thailand and Indonesia. The COVID-19 pandemic then brought global business activities to a virtual standstill throughout 2020.

Today, Emon Enterprise continues to expand its international market presence and contribute to strengthening Bangladesh's position as an exporter of recycled PET products. Its export markets now extend to North and South America, including the USA and Brazil, as well as other international destinations.
